Cards in this deck
What is "The Kitchen" (Non-Volley Zone)?
The 7-foot area on both sides of the net in Pickleball where you cannot volley (hit the ball in the air).
Define "The Dink".
A soft, controlled shot hit from the Kitchen line that arcs over the net and lands in the opponent's Kitchen.
What is the "Third Shot Drop"?
A strategic soft shot hit by the serving team that drops into the opponent's Kitchen, allowing the servers to move forward to the net.
Define "Skinny Singles".
A variation of Pickleball played on half the court, used for practice or when only two players are available.
What is a "Nasty Nelson"?
A legal (but controversial) trick play where the server intentionally hits the non-receiver opponent with the ball.
Define "The Bandeja" (Padel specific).
A "tray" shot in Padel; an overhead hit used to keep the ball deep and maintain a net position.
What is the "Double Bounce Rule"?
In Pickleball, the ball must bounce once on each side (the serve and the return) before anyone can volley it.
Define "The Vibora" (Padel specific).
A fast, aggressive overhead shot with heavy side-spin designed to make the ball bounce low and difficult to return off the glass.
What is "Stacking"?
A doubles strategy where partners stay on the same side of the court during a serve or return to keep their strongest shots (forehand/backhand) in the middle.
Define "The Erne".
An advanced Pickleball move where a player jumps over or runs around the Kitchen corner to volley the ball while standing out of bounds.
What is an "ATP" (Around the Post) shot?
A legal shot where the ball is hit so low and wide that it travels around the net
What is a "Dead Ball"?
A ball that is no longer in play due to a fault, such as hitting the net or landing out of bounds.
Define "The Chiquita".
A slow, dipping shot hit toward the opponent's feet as they approach the net, forcing them to hit upward.
What is "Court Etiquette" (Tap the Paddle)?
The traditional way to end a match—players meet at the net and gently tap the bottom of their paddles together.
Define "Resetting the Point".
Using a soft, defensive shot to slow down a fast rally and force the opponents back into a "dinking" game.
What is the "Golden Rule" of Padel walls?
If the ball hits the ground first and then the glass, it is in play; if it hits the glass or fence first, it is out.
Define "Lobbing".
A high, deep shot intended to go over the opponents' heads to force them away from the net.
What is a "Poach"?
When a player at the net crosses over to their partner's side to intercept a ball and finish the point.
Define "Unforced Error".
A mistake made on a shot that should have been easy to return (the most common reason for losing a match).
What is "The Bert"?
Similar to an Erne, but it’s when you jump in front of your partner's Kitchen to hit a volley.
What is "Side-Out" Scoring?
A traditional scoring system (used in Pickleball) where you can only score points when your team is serving.
